COUNT SKYLARKIN

Back to the homepage

Aidan Larkin, aka Count Skylarkin, stumbled into DJing in the late 90s after his mixtapes proved a hit with customers at the Camberwell cafe his girlfriend worked at. A lauded DJ, promoter, garden shed enthusiast and all-round dapper dan behind the Skylarkin' Soundsystem clubnights in Oxford and Brixton, an hour in the company of the Count guarantees jumpin' jivin' rockin' swingin' reggae, ska, soul, dancehall and rhythm & blues exotica, aching feet and grins all round.

In recent times the Count has shared stages with such black music luminaries as The Skatalites, Prince Buster, Alton Ellis, Max Romeo, Mad Professor, Massive Attack's Daddy G and Horace Andy - in Oxford, London and beyond - including at The Big Chill, Truck and Secret Garden festivals. In 2007 he appeared at Notting Hill Carnival as part of Trojan Soundsystem. Now an Oxford resident of some eight years, his soundsystem at Cowley Road Carnival is consistently among the event's biggest draws.
