We love TEED! Orlando is an old friend of the shed from Oxford, who first played in the Disco Shed at the Big Chill Festival in 2009.

Now having been just about the hottest, in-demand dance act in the land for the past 12 months or so, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs are now officially massive, being handpicked by Damon Albarn for his DRC project, recording an album in the Congo in a week!

If you’ve been in a cave and not discovered them yet then Paddy played Garden almost non–stop in the shed last summer.

We’re delighted and honoured to play host to a stage of their album tour and to introduce him to the lovely Orange Rooms!

Never knowingly over-played, BBC 6Music breakfast show hero Shaun makes a rare journey out after dark to spin tunes alongside festival legends the Disco Shedonists.

Expect anything from Scottish indie pop to crunk from the dirty South, via northern soul, punk, rave and stadium rock. Just don’t request anything by his now legendary late 80’s Leigh supergroup Mosque, unless “a gothic rock opera in 3 minutes 36 seconds” really is your kind of thing!

Here are nearly all the DJ sets recorded in the shed at Thames Festival in September 2011 for your listening pleasure! If you enjoy these, please spread the word!

We had an amazing time at Latitude in 2011. Incredibly, despite the fun, we managed to record most of the DJ sets played that weekend. Here’s what we’ve got, enjoy!

Some time ago, I had an idea for a reggae remix. I messed around with doing it live in my DJ sets, then enlisted my friend Harvey K-Tel (aka Sam Tierney), who turned a sketchy notion into a rocket-fuelled junglist reality. A major label signed us and gave us some cash. Then they forgot about us, and we spent two more years trying to get our tune back so we could release it. Happily, we spent the aforementioned cash on a video. Massive thanks to Seb Burnett and Rumpus Animation. The 12” is finally out in January!

DUB OF A PREACHERMAN
When their career was put on hiatus after THAT incident on the Terry Spandex Show in 1964 many people thought that was the end of Musty Springwatch and The Skylarkalites. But after some very persistant coaxing from Count Skylarkin and the mysterious Harvey K-Tel the original line-up have reformed and started touring again. Once playing to packed-out stadiums, they are now reduced to performing in dodgy back-alley clubs… but with a surefire hit like Dub of a Preacherman they are bound to hit the bigtime again.

This New Year’s Eve the Big Ten Inch and the Disco Shed take you to the birthplace of jazz, rhythm & blues, marching bands, Mardi Gras and black magic for a New Orleans New Year.

Performing live onstage, The Congo Faith Healers are like nothing you have heard or experienced before. Combining down and dirty swamp infested gypsy blues with wild, savage guitar playing, voodoo vocals, latin american drum and trumpet grooves with rockabilly swing double bass and hooks that you’ll be singing for days, they have one of the most intense and utterly compelling live shows around.

Elsewhere in the basement we’ll be recreating the wild nightlife of Bourbon Street and the infamous French Quarter, with rollicking blues, brass and Louisiana boogie-woogie from The Big Ten Inch residents Count Skylarkin, Count Sizzle and onetime tour DJ for The Clash, Scratchy. Erstwhile Ordinary Boy Samuel Preston makes a rare appearance behind the decks to spin New Orleans funk, Louisiana soul and 60s beat. Then some imported Caribbean black magic as The Specials legend Jerry Dammers adds his spellbinding collection of crazy mambo, calypso, cumbia, ska, reggae and juju 45’s to the mix later on.

On the ground floor The Disco Shed heads for Honey Island Swamp with Peepshow Paddy, Miss Splinters and some very special guests. DJ Wrongtom needs little introduction – his work with artists as diverse as Root Manuva and Hard Fi have seen him become one of the most in-demand producers, remixers and DJs around.

Digga Please? (aka DJ Shepdog & Kombine) gave Disco Shed one of their favourite ever festival hours when they played for them at The Big Chill in 2010. Funk, disco, 80’s pop, hip-hop and rave are all likely to feature as the pair delve into their vast collections of (strictly) 7″ records. Be warned, getting naked is occasionally part of the ‘fun’!

Finally, we’re very excited to finally be able to announce the south coast’s finest – DJ Format – as our ground floor shedliner. Mix-tape maestro, producer extraordinaire, one-time Jurassic 5 tour bus driver (true!) and one of the best DJs around.

Dress code: New Orleans Mardi Gras; voodoo, jesters, masquerade, purple, green and gold. Prizes for the best costumes – the King and Queen of Mardi Gras will be crowned at 11pm!

Peepshow Paddy, DJ, promoter and head of the Disco Shed

Patrick Bickerton, aka Peepshow Paddy, started  DJing in 1997 when, as an 18 year old bored-of-indie kid he got his first set of decks and promptly fell in love with raving. Wide-ranging tastes helped him develop his anything goes approach, seamlessly mixing up different genres in an inimitable party rockin’ style. He embodies the eclectic nature of the Disco Shed like no other, and is rarely in better form than when playing one of his traditional Sunday night shed-closing sets at any festival.

His first forays into party promotion came after moving to Oxford, when he set up AV club night Peepshow in 2003 with three friends, and hosted some legendary nights with acts such as Mylo, Hexstatic, Coldcut, Belleruche and Ulrich Schnauss amongst others, earning glowing praise from clubbers and critics alike. As a club night, Peepshow is currently resting, but the brand continues, primarily as a bookings agency for most of the Disco Shed roster of DJs as well as live bands such as Introducing.

Paddy was also instrumental in setting up Festinho, working as bookings manager from 2005-2009. Since joining forces with his mate Count Skylarkin in 2005 though, his primary focus has been the Disco Shed and bringing the good gospel of shedonism to all sorts of festivals, clubs, pubs, bars, weddings, birthdays, bah mitsvahs etc etc. For bookings, mix cds, or just to say hello, please e-mail him at:

The Count has shared stages, decks and rum with such black music luminaries as The Wailers (2009 UK Tour DJ), The Specials, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, The Skatalites, Prince Buster, Alton Ellis, Max Romeo, Mad Professor, Don Letts, Jerry Dammers, Trojan Soundsystem, Benga, Coki, Benny Page, DJ Yoda, Alex Paterson (The Orb), Massive Attack’s Daddy G and Horace Andy.

As co-founder of The Disco Shed he has made headlining appearances at numerous summer festivals, including The Big Chill, Latitude, Reading, Truck and The Mayor’s Thames Festival. Shedless, The Count has also rocked Glastonbury, Shambala, The Secret Garden Party, Outlook Festival (Croatia), Notting Hill Carnival and countless others. An authority on reggae music particularly, he has written for several music publications, including NME.
